How to install PokeMMO: ROMs, PC, Android and iOS

Which ROMs does PokeMMO need?

Only one ROM is required: Pokémon Black or White (the first games, not Black 2 / White 2). The others are optional: each one adds its region to the game.

With every ROM you get all five regions: that is where the 649 Pokémon of the Pokédex and every catching spot are.

Where to get the ROMs?

PokeMMO does not supply ROMs and does not help you find them: they are copyrighted, and the official site says you must have the legal right to use them. The only clean source is a copy of your own cartridge.

Let's be honest: ROMs are easy to find online. We don't recommend it and we won't give any pointer to download them. Rules on game copies differ from country to country: check the ones where you live.

Create your account

First of all you need a free account, created on the sign-up page of pokemmo.com. The same account works on PC, Mac, Linux, Android and iOS.

Install PokeMMO on PC (Windows)

1. Download the installer from the official page. The download may pause at 99% while your browser checks it.
2. Run the installer, then start PokeMMO from the Start menu or the desktop icon.
3. In the game menu, point it to your ROMs.
4. Sign in with your account.

There is also a portable ZIP: extract it anywhere and run PokeMMO.exe.

Install PokeMMO on Mac

1. Download the DMG from the official Mac page.
2. Open it and drag PokeMMO to the Applications folder.
3. Start PokeMMO from Launchpad: it updates itself the first time.
4. Point it to your ROMs in the game menu.

Install PokeMMO on Linux and Steam Deck

The easiest way is the Flatpak, available out of the box on Fedora, Linux Mint, Pop!_OS, Solus and the Steam Deck (Desktop Mode):

flatpak install com.pokemmo.PokeMMO

On Ubuntu, Manjaro or KDE Neon, the Snap does the same:

snap install pokemmo

Otherwise, extract the ZIP client and run PokeMMO.sh. In every case, then point it to your ROMs in the game menu.

Install PokeMMO on Android

1. Download the APK from the official Android page. It needs Android 5.0 or newer.
2. Allow your browser or file manager to install apps from unknown sources.
3. Install the APK and start PokeMMO.
4. Copy your ROMs to the phone storage, then point to them in the game menu.

Only download PokeMMO from pokemmo.com: an APK found elsewhere could contain anything.

Install PokeMMO on iPhone and iPad (iOS)

PokeMMO is not on the App Store: you install it by sideloading. The official site offers three methods:

With AltStore or Sideloadly on iOS 16 or newer, first turn on the iPhone's Developer Mode. In AltStore, add https://pokemmo.com/altstore/ as a source to install and update PokeMMO directly. The detailed steps are on the official iOS page.

Other methods are not supported by PokeMMO: use them at your own risk.

Once you're in the game

• Look up a Pokémon in the PokeMMO Pokédex: where to find it, its stats, moves and shiny sprite.
• Plan your first breed with the breeding planner, which works out the cheapest path to your IVs.
• Train your EVs at the best horde spots.
• Check GTL prices before buying or selling.
• Get ready for raids with the community strategies.
